Optima is unique in combining the teaching of synthetic phonics and high frequency words with real books. By aligning those books with the phonic system, children can be encouraged to read and share their favourite stories, written by some of the most loved children’s authors, so that reading is always purposeful and pleasurable while at the same time offering appropriate opportunities for them to apply their synthetic phonics skills to a wide range of texts.

Optima Reading is currently the only approach to teach all the essential skills that are critical in learning to read (synthesis, segmentation, phonics, sight word reading, vocabulary) within the context of real books.
